1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using QuietLog ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
2. License to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use QuietLog for personal noise recording, sound level reference, report creation, and documentation purposes, subject to these Terms.
You May:
- Measure sound levels using your device microphone
- Create noise recording sessions and local reports
- Save raw audio and over-threshold event clips where supported
- Edit report titles and location labels for your own records
- Review, play, share, or export supported reports and recordings
- Purchase QuietLog Pro to unlock paid access and higher limits
You May NOT:
- Copy, modify, distribute, resell, or sublicense the App
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App's source code
- Use the App for illegal, harmful, abusive, deceptive, or infringing purposes
- Record people or private conversations in violation of applicable laws or required consent rules
- Use the App as certified legal, medical, safety, engineering, or professional acoustic measurement equipment
- Attempt to bypass purchase restrictions, feature limits, or entitlement checks
- Interfere with the App, App Store purchase systems, RevenueCat, or related services
3. Description of Service
QuietLog is a noise recording and decibel report app designed to help users document sound events. The App provides:
- Noise Measurement: Display live sound level readings using the device microphone
- Session Recording: Record sound during user-started sessions
- Threshold Events: Mark sections that exceed a selected dBA threshold
- Audio Playback: Review original recordings and supported event clips
- Reports: View summaries such as peak dBA, exceeded time, event count, duration, and session time
- Sharing and Export: Share supported report or audio content when you choose to do so
- QuietLog Pro: Unlock paid access such as additional report creation, playback, export, or other Pro features
4. No Account Required
QuietLog does not require account registration:
- No email address, password, name, or phone number is required to use the App
- Your reports, recordings, event clips, thresholds, and settings are primarily stored locally on your device
- If you uninstall the App, locally stored App data may be deleted from your device
- Purchase restoration is handled through Apple App Store and RevenueCat purchase records
5. Recordings, Reports, and Local Data
Important: Recordings and Legal Responsibility
QuietLog can record real-world audio. Audio recording laws vary by country, state, and region. You are responsible for using QuietLog legally, appropriately, and with any required consent.
5.1 Noise Measurement and Reports
- QuietLog provides practical sound level readings and summaries based on your device microphone
- QuietLog is not a certified sound level meter and is not professional acoustic measurement equipment
- Readings can vary based on device model, microphone condition, case, distance, room acoustics, background noise, and iOS behavior
- Reports are documentation aids only and do not guarantee legal, administrative, building management, landlord, police, court, or insurance acceptance
- You are responsible for reviewing reports and deciding how to use them
5.2 Audio Recording
- QuietLog may request Microphone permission to measure sound levels and save session audio
- Recordings may include voices, private sounds, or other sensitive audio depending on where you record
- You are responsible for following all applicable recording, privacy, surveillance, workplace, housing, school, and local laws
- You can revoke Microphone permission at any time in iOS Settings
- If permission is denied, recording and measurement features may not work
- QuietLog does not claim ownership of your recordings, reports, or labels
5.3 Background Recording
- QuietLog may use background audio capability to continue an active recording session when supported by iOS
- Background behavior can be affected by iOS, device battery state, interruptions, phone calls, other audio apps, permissions, and system limits
- We do not guarantee that background recording will continue uninterrupted in every situation
6. QuietLog Pro and In-App Purchases
QuietLog may offer paid in-app purchases, including a monthly subscription and a lifetime purchase option, under the name QuietLog Pro.
6.1 Purchase Processing
- All in-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store
- RevenueCat may be used to manage purchase entitlements and restore access
- We do not directly collect or store your payment card information
- Your purchase is subject to Apple's App Store terms and policies
6.2 Monthly Subscription
- QuietLog Pro may be offered as a monthly auto-renewable subscription
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled in your Apple App Store account settings before the renewal date
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings
- Prices, trial availability, and subscription options may vary by country or region
6.3 Lifetime Access
- "Lifetime" means access to the paid QuietLog Pro features for the lifetime of the App as offered and supported by us
- Lifetime access does not guarantee that every current feature will remain unchanged forever
- We may modify, improve, remove, or replace features over time
- We may need to change functionality due to iOS, App Store, RevenueCat, device capability, or third-party service changes
6.4 Refunds
- Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store refund policies
- To request a refund, use Apple's reportaproblem.apple.com service or App Store support
- We do not control Apple's refund decision process
7. Free Limits and Feature Availability
The free version of QuietLog may include limits on report creation, playback, export, saved history, recording access, or other features.
- Free limits may change over time
- QuietLog Pro may remove or raise certain limits
- Some features may depend on device capability, iOS version, permissions, local storage, microphone availability, and App Store availability
- We do not guarantee that dBA readings, event detection, reports, timestamps, audio clips, or summaries will be complete or perfectly accurate
8. Ownership of Content
You retain ownership of your recordings, reports, report titles, location labels, notes, and other content you create or save using QuietLog.
- We do not claim ownership of your recordings or reports
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to record, save, share, export, or use any content created through the App
- You are responsible for complying with copyright, privacy, recording consent, housing, workplace, school, and other applicable rules or laws
9. Privacy and Data Storage
QuietLog is designed to be local-first. Your noise sessions, recordings, reports, event clips, thresholds, and settings are generally stored on your device.
- No Account Required: QuietLog does not require personal account registration
- Local Storage: Reports, recordings, and app settings are stored locally on your device
- Permissions: Microphone and background audio features require user permission or system support
- Purchases: Apple and RevenueCat may process purchase and entitlement data

10. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use QuietLog for:
- Any illegal activity or purpose
- Recording people, conversations, homes, workplaces, schools, or private spaces in violation of applicable laws or required consent rules
- Harassment, stalking, intimidation, abuse, fraud, or harmful activity
- Creating misleading, altered, or deceptive reports or recordings
- Using the App as certified legal evidence or professional measurement equipment where certified tools are required
- Attempting to bypass purchase restrictions or App Store payment systems
- Attempting to compromise the App, RevenueCat, Apple purchase systems, or any related service
- Any use that violates applicable laws, regulations, building rules, workplace rules, school rules, lease terms, or third-party terms
11. Third-Party Services
QuietLog may interact with third-party services and Apple system services:
- Apple App Store: In-app purchase processing and refund handling
- RevenueCat: Purchase entitlement management and purchase restoration
- Apple Microphone and Audio Services: Sound measurement, recording, playback, and background audio where supported
- Apple Share Sheet and Files: Sharing or exporting reports and recordings when you choose to do so
Your use of third-party services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, policies, outages, or availability.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
QuietLog is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Merchantability
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation
- Accuracy of sound level readings, event detection, timestamps, summaries, or reports
- Legal, administrative, court, police, landlord, building management, workplace, insurance, or dispute resolution acceptance of reports or recordings
- Compatibility with all future iOS versions or device configurations
- Preservation of local data if the App is deleted, device storage fails, iOS removes app data, or a recording is interrupted
- Continuous recording during background use, phone calls, audio interruptions, low battery, or system resource limitations
13. Limitation of Liability
Important: Noise Report and Local Data Disclaimer
QuietLog is a personal documentation tool. You should not rely on QuietLog as your only record, backup, legal evidence source, safety tool, or professional measurement device.
- We are not responsible for loss of reports, recordings, event clips, timestamps, settings, or local app data
- We are not responsible for missed recordings, interrupted recordings, inaccurate readings, incomplete reports, or failed exports
- We are not responsible for disputes with neighbors, landlords, tenants, building management, employers, schools, authorities, insurers, or other parties
- We are not responsible for legal consequences resulting from how you record, share, export, or use audio
- You are responsible for keeping separate backups of important recordings or reports outside the App
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- We are not liable for loss of data, loss of profits, loss of opportunity, property disputes, legal outcomes, or noise-related claims
- We are not liable for errors caused by iOS, device permissions, microphone behavior, local storage, App Store purchase systems, RevenueCat, or third-party services
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or USD $10, whichever is greater
14. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Posting the updated Terms at this URL
Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Changes to the App
We may modify, suspend, discontinue, replace, or remove any part of the App at any time, including free features, paid features, limits, UI, supported languages, recording behavior, reports, playback, export, or integrations.
- Feature availability may change due to product decisions, iOS changes, App Store policy changes, RevenueCat changes, or technical limitations
- We may update the App to improve performance, security, usability, or compliance
- We are not obligated to maintain every feature in its current form forever
16. Termination
You may stop using QuietLog at any time by deleting the App from your device.
We may suspend or terminate access to the App or its paid features if you:
- Violate these Terms
- Engage in fraudulent purchase activity
- Attempt to bypass App Store payments or entitlement checks
- Use the App for illegal, harmful, abusive, or deceptive purposes
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Korea, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of South Korea, unless applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise.
